Brake Rotor FAQ

The most distinct symptom of a warped rotor is a noticeable pulsing or shuttering sensation felt through the brake lever or foot pedal when you slow down. You may also notice steering wheel shake on UTVs or a rhythmic squeaking/rubbing sound coming from the wheel assembly while coasting without the brakes applied.
Drilled holes allow hot air and outgassing vapors to escape quickly, lowering operating temperatures. The slots act as mechanical cleaning channels, continuously sweeping away water, loose trail sand, and packed mud from the face of the rotor so your brake pads maintain direct contact with the steel.
It is highly discouraged. Old brake pads are worn unevenly to match the grooved wear profile of your previous rotor. If you install them on a brand-new, perfectly flat disc, the pads will only touch the high spots, severely reducing your stopping power and scoring or glazing the surface of your new rotor immediately. Always install fresh pads with new rotors.
