Clamp Tensioning, Gasket Alignment, & Vacuum Leak Detection
When installing a replacement intake manifold boot, carefully clean the cylinder head mating surface to remove all old gasket material or residue. Always use a fresh base gasket or high-grade O-ring, and apply the manufacturer's specified torque pattern to avoid cracking the aluminum flange ears. Slide the carburetor or throttle body fully into the boot until it seats against the internal rubber lip before tightening the worm-gear clamps. Tighten the hose clamps firmly to prevent air leaks, but avoid over-tightening, which can easily slice through the new rubber or crush the carburetor inlet neck.
